Offers to Farnham u3a members
In these somewhat ‘constrained’ economic times everyone likes a bargain and the Farnham u3a committee has been scratching its collective head in an attempt to offer our members even better value for money than they already receive from our 118 groups, Monthly and Theme meetings, workshops and social events. In the past year or so we have struck deals with:
The Reel cinema
- we regularly now have well over 100 attendees.
- The venue is Reel Farnham, 8 Old Market Place, Farnham – u3a does not sell or allocate tickets. However, to allow us to keep an eye on numbers please let groups@u3akeith.tonyjohnson.org know if you are coming and how many will be in your party.
- Doors open at 9.30am – not earlier regardless of the weather! Screenings start at 10.30am
prompt. Please arrive to give yourself sufficient time to buy your ticket (you cannot buy tickets online – though you can buy them in advance at the cinema).
The Castle Inn
- At the Castle Inn in Castle street you can enjoy a 10% discount on a weekday lunchtime meal with up to three friends who, remarkably, don’t even have to be u3a members. This offer applies throughout the year except in December. There’s a nice garden out the back now too!
The Nuffield Gym and pool
- where you become a member at student rates and exercise classes are mostly free, at the moment there is no joining fee.
I am delighted to announce that we have recently reached agreements with four further local businesses.
The Farnham Hearing Clinic
For both new and existing Clients:
- A 50% discount on Healthy Hearing Assessments. This is an in-depth Audiology assessment that includes Puretone testing, hearing speech in quiet and in noise and testing middle ear function. It takes up to 90 minutes. The standard cost is £135.
- 10% discount on all hearing aids, excluding the fitting, hearing therapy and ongoing services and only when purchased as a new client to Farnham Hearing as part of a hearing rehab package.
- 10% discount on assistive listening devices like TV adapters, remote microphones and specialist telephones like Widex Dex Phones.

Farnham Foot Clinic
New Clients:
- A 10% discount will apply to all routine foot care treatments after the initial visit.
- The initial appointment charge of £72 remains unchanged.
- Subsequent visits, currently priced at £66, will receive a 10% discount.
Existing Clients:
- Farnham u3a members who are already clients will receive a 10% discount on routine foot care treatments from April 1st, 2025 onward.

Howden Insurance (Farnham)
This final new offer is somewhat different. It concerns a payment to Farnham u3a by Howden Insurance (Farnham). Farnham u3a will not transfer this money to the member, it will go into general funds, to benefit all members.

To support Farnham u3a members, we would like to extend an exclusive offer to Farnham u3a members who take out a NEW Insurance Policy using our services.”
Offer Details
The offer will be valid from 1st April 2025 and will continue until at least August 31st, 2026. The agreement will be reviewed in August 2026 with the intention of continuing for 2026/2027.
For both New and Existing Clients:
- Howden (Farnham) will pay Farnham u3a £50 for every New Insurance Policy taken out by a Farnham u3a Member, their family and any friends.
- This offer will apply to any type of qualifying Insurance as jointly agreed between u3a and Howden Management, either face to face or by telephone 01252 725 725.
- Annual renewal of policies will not qualify for this payment.
Verification of Membership:
To ensure the offer is correctly applied:
- Applicants should provide a unique U3A membership number and corresponding surname when negotiating the policy with the Howden representative and, only if requested, a suitable form of personal identification (e.g. photo driving licence)
- Howden (Farnham) reserves the right to cross-check the provided membership number and name against the official U3A membership list (numbers only, to ensure compliance with GDPR).
